TNT takes 40 ticks to blow up, 9 repeaters on 4 ticks = 36 ticks, piston retracts 4 ticks before the TNT goes off, sand flies away! 9 repeater on 4 ticks + 1 on 3 ticks = 39 ticks = ultimate timing for Sand Cannon!

I built the autocannon in a castlewars server and It worked like hell. I think you mean not practial for firing at a living target. I was busting down a 20 block thick wall.

I learned two very important things while attempting the auto version. (the single shot version was a complete success. It could fire either sand or TNT without modification, and I worked out a way of manually adjusting the range with block placement around the “muzzle”.)
But the two things: 1. If the timing is off on a TNT shot, you’ll damage the build. 2. If you reload even slightly wrong on the full auto build, you will be left with a crater.
