  1. You don’t have a clue what you’re babbling about. Period. The megapixels only determine RESOLUTION as in SIZE of the picture, nothing to due with overall quality of the image which is determined by the quality of the lens and the size of the CMOS. Then you bring up depth of field. That simply determines how much of the image is in focus. Again, NOTHING to do with image quality. Maybe you should think before babbling more.

  2. Are you blind?, did you not see that I said “This camera is crap compared to new DSLR’s that take video like the Canon EOS 550d/T2i” The Canon T2i is only $650-800 and it is much better quality than the P100. A SLR is always that is 9mp+ is always going to take better images than a point and shoot, for one thing DSLR’s have depth of field. Do some reasearch about camera’s before repyling to my comments next time ok.

  3. You’re comparing apples to oranges. Which DSLR? If you compare a $3,000-$5,000 camera to one that costs $400, well duh. But if you compare the P100 to a lower end DSLR costing $500-700 then indeed the P100 is very close.

  4. It only gives a DSLR a run for it’s money, if the DSLR is like 6 years old. This camera is crap compared to new DSLR’s that take video like the Canon EOS 550d/T2i.

  5. Just a quick heads-up. I noticed that if you use the included ViewNx software to transfer files from the camera to you computer the default is set to compress files to 80% of their original size which of course can cut quality, which might explain why some of those “professional” reviews you see on web sites or blogs say the images can be a bit soft. Easy enough to change to no compression.

  6. I will i will brotha just got a new computer but its a mac xD well its not really mine my school is lending it to me cause im shooting there end of the year video

  7. Thats awesome man im glad you enjoy it. And i love filming skating and with this camera i bet it turned out great thanks for the comment

  8. Nice review Jacob. Cameras like this give DSLR cameras that cost way more a run for their money. I got mine more on a whim, planning on replacing my Canon Z45 video camera which by today’s standards is a relic, then saw this Nikon and right after trying it out in the store had to have it. One of the first shots I caught the teen next door in mid air doing a “flip kick’ on his skateboard, 1/800 shutter speed and it turned out great, going to get it blown up into a poster and give it to him. ;-)

  9. It is a nice camera. I’ve had mine about a month, works great indoors and out. About the only things missing are a hot shoe to add an external flash and the lens does not accept filters. It has great optics like all Nikons, super actually ultra wide angle, and telephoto, the HD slow motion, sports mode to “freeze” action, a wide range of special semi-automatic modes plus full manual, ability to get as close as a bit less than 1/2 an inch in macro mode, the features just go on and on.

  10. Nice review i wish the qaulity is a little better
    is the video still processing?

  11. This Looks Great.
Its surprising what kinda qaulity you can get for a camera thats only 400 bucks

    great review
