Think Tank Photo Modular Belt System for Event Photography

Think Tank Photo co-founder Doug Murdoch demonstrates the seven most important features of Think Tank Photo’s Modular Belt System. Carrying modular camera bags and lens cases on a specially designed belt is commonly used for event, sports, wedding, concert, travel, and nature photography. The Think Tank Photo modular belts and components are designed for digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) cameras and video capable HDSLR cameras such as the Canon EOS 5D Mark II, 1D Mark IV, 1Ds Mark III, 7D, 60D, 50D and the Nikon D3, D3X, D3S, D300S, D90, D3100, D7000 and D700.

  1. Each pouch actually has this little foam-like materiel (forgive my English…I don’t even know what’s it called) that you can easily pull out and cover the rear element so dust can’t get in. Their design is pretty much flawless as much as I have used them.

    Cheers

  2. for the L glass, some of the mounts have some spacing between the back element and the contact point pane so it doesnt touch the base of the pouch

  3. storing lenses without the rear lens caps….is that a good idea? hmmmm

  4. I think the Skin system would work well for you as it is more discrete and compact for event/wedding shooting. We didn’t shoot it, but take a loot a this video as he does a good job to highlight the features: YouTube Search: danylobobyk think tank modular. Sorry, no links are allowed in a reply! 5. Do you have a video showing use of skin system? In this video you never put or take out a lens from skin system. I cannot decide which system is better to buy P.s. Event and wedding photographer:)

  6. My understanding is that the purpose served by The ThinkTank Digital Holster is quite a bit different than that of the SpiderPro Holster. But I have to agree with you – they’ve got enough in common that they need not complement one another on any giver shoot.
Indeed, I should get in touch with the customer service for a suggestion or two. By the way, the Humongous Bazooka is nowhere to come across here in The Netherlands. And absent from your website. Will there be a successor?

  7. Thank you, Chris. The reason I use the SpiderPro Plate is that without one the camera (as it has but a single screw thread) wouldn’t take both the tripod plate and the SpiderPro Pin. And frequent attaching and detaching of the pin and the plate is very impractical and can result in a thread wear or damage the bolt. The same setup for the body is necessary for use with shorter and lighter lenses.

  8. Hi Leo, the Digital Holster series does provide extra room for a tripod plate or L-Bracket. However, it sounds like you are doubling them up. I’m sure your combo will stretch the bag and as always it comes down to personal preference on how you like your products to fit. I will tell you that the plate on the tripod collar is going to make it too cumbersome to move your lens in and out of the bag. My gut tells me that your configuration is just a little too much.

  9. Hi Leo, The Rotation360 was one of our first products almost 6 years ago. Since then, we have continually sourced the highest quality materials for our products. Regardless, I appreciate your comments as we are always interested in the needs and wants of photographers in the field. If you have any additional questions, feel free to contact us directly: customerservice [at] thinktankphoto [dot] com

  10. Hi, do you know if the Digital Holster 30 v2.0 (or, alternatively, the Digital Holster 50 v.2.0) will accommodate a 5D II WITH A SPIDERHOLSTER PRO PLATE WITH A PIN AND AN ARCA SWISS SLIDEFIX PLATE (all) attached to the body, along with another SPIDERHOLSTER PRO PLATE WITH A PIN AND AN ARCA SWISS SLIDEFIX PLATE secured to the TRIPOD COLLAR of the EF 70-200mm IS II? Thank you. Appreciative of your reply.

If so, please, do let me know, and I’ll buy one. Also, do read my previous comment, please.

  11. May I enquire if you intend to utilise the high-tech, better quality modern velcro types, such as Dual Lock or any of the those used in the better Arcteryx, North Face and Häglofs technical jacket sleeves?

To be honest, I’m allergic (not literally) to plain old ugly velcro, such as the one used in the Rotation 360 bag (the straps used to secure the tripod legs, for instance)? And better quality, elastic mesh, please – the one in the Rotation 360 feels very cheap.

  12. This is a great system,i purchased the Modular kit,and it works very well, great product.

  13. Yes, great question! While using the Pixel Racing Harness, you can adapt our camera support straps to our camera strap to hang 1 or 2 cameras. This way, the weight is held from the harness instead of your neck.
    Sound good?
Just let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns.
    Best Regards- Chris

  14. Pro event photogs use 2 camera bodies.
To minimize changing lenses and thus getting dust in your camera.
Though this is a pretty cool belt system.
I’d couple this belt system with a BlackRapid Double R-strap.

  15. Hi Jackie, thanks for the question! All of our Modular and Skin components have drawstring closures which tightens up the top so nothing can escape. That being said, the pouches are pretty secure even when open wide.
Does that answer your question? Just let me know if I can be of further assistance.
    Best Regards,
    Chris

  16. This is what I am looking for! This is awesome!
But wait a minute. when you put the lens in the bags, what happens if you have to lean over or bend down? Would the lens slide out??
