Question by : What should i include in my media portfolio?
So, i’m applying for a school and i have to put together a portfolio for the specific course i want to do for my college years (Senior and Junior years for americans) and i have a year to put together this portfolio.
I’m applying for the creative media production course which specialises in video, television and radio production, film, photography and new-media.
So, the portfolio has to include one or more of those course headings, but i want to concentrate on television and radio production but include some of the others so i can have a bigger chance of being considered acceptance.
The only problem is that i haven’t actually got any work to include in this portfolio as i haven’t really had the oppertunity. But, i really want to do this course and i’ve wanted to do something to do with media since i was a kid.
So, what could i include in this portfolio, like basics and everything. As i have absolutely no idea.
I was gonna attempt a short film but i can’t afford a video camera. So, yeah that ideas gone.
Thanks in advance.

I only really know about film and basic media really.
Id’e say, maybe do a page on each, photography, film, radio.etc.. and explain there purpose, how there used to affect people, what people they tend to affect and how each have sub-criteria affects more targeted audience.
Maybe do a micro-analysis of a film or television show, explain the issues in a film or T.V show and go into detail about how music, camera angles, special effects and etc are used.
Maybe get a picture of a poster advertisement and explain how certain presentational and linguistical features fit the codes and conventions of modern day advertisement.
